SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is an industrial automation system used for monitoring, controlling, and collecting real-time data from industrial processes and equipment. It provides a centralized platform through which operators can observe and control different machines and processes. A typical SCADA system consists of sensors, actuators, PLCs/RTUs, communication networks, HMI, and SCADA software. Sensors collect information such as temperature, pressure, level, flow, voltage, and speed. The collected data is processed by PLCs or RTUs and transferred to the SCADA system through communication networks. The HMI (Human Machine Interface) displays the process in a graphical form, allowing operators to monitor equipment status, control devices, view real-time values, and identify abnormal conditions. SCADA also provides alarm systems, data logging, historical records, trends, and reports, which help operators make better decisions. SCADA is commonly used in manufacturing, power plants, water treatment, oil and gas, chemical industries, transportation, and building automation. It improves efficiency, safety, reliability, and productivity while reducing downtime and manual monitoring. Overall, SCADA acts as a connection between field devices and operators, enabling real-time supervision, control, communication, and data management of automated industrial processes.
